Sound modules

I'm currently looking for a sound system for my class 37, has anyone had any experience of them? any pointers would be good - thanks
James

Hi Martin, glad you made it!!
Came across this link today (you have probally come across it)
It is- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/traxcontrols/modules.html
Also it might be worthwile contacting Chris of  http://www.corrishill.co.uk/

His maxitrak Corination has a sound system.

I must admit they do sound quite good!!

I've put a trax unit on my little 0-4-0 ( see htttp://www.highviewrailway.co.uk/ ) and its very good. The sound and volume are adjustable to give a good range of effects. The guys down our club ( www.cdmes.org ) seem impressed as well. As one of them says it sounds just like theres a dodgy valve on No 3 cylinder.... just as all narrow gauge deisels should.
I'd recommend them and will be using them again when I get further on with the next project which is an electric steam looky-likey because they do steam sound units as well.
I've also fitted my little 0-4-0 with a smoke generator from Hunter Systems (link on www.5inchrail.co.uk) which gives nice little swisps of smoke up the exhaust pipe. When I build the electric 'looks-like-a-steam-engine-but-you-don't-get-mucky' loco I intend to fit a smoke generator (with a fan for extra smoke up the chimney).
And you thought you were sad eh !..... Seriously thou. Buy one, you'll love it !

Is it hard to wire the system up(I am not vey good at electrics)?
lorweb

No, not at all. My loco uses a maxitrak controller but the sound unit comes with info for wiring up to any pwm controller such as the units from 4qd or parkside.
