We are hoping to re-open to the halfway station before August this year, and then possibly complete track renovation by the same time in 2009. Although that will still leave all the S&T equipment in need of re-building, somthing which will recquire somone specialised in the Telecoms field.
James

Is the track all new or was there some left from the original line?
SillyBilly

All the track was still in situ, luckily, or else we wouldn't of bothered with the re-build!
James

Thats handy!!! Are you going to run commercially, or keep it private?
SillyBilly

It isn't my railway, I am just the one behind getting teams together and re-build it. But I suspect the owners will keep it as a private line for family and friends and at the same time invite others to come and bring their locos should they wish to do so.
James

Hi William,

Has there been much progress of late?
SillyBilly

Sadly not, as my father (a.k.a chauffer) has been busy laying track for the WHR as part of his day job!

Looking forward to reading more update when you can and the piece in Miniature Railways was very good..

Hello,
Sorry for a long time without an update. Over the weekend I was given some old photos of the railway by Steve Milns, we owns a Hunslet 'Lady Madcap' and a main line Penrhyn Hunslet 'Charles', also has a 'Blanche' under construction. As you can see in the photos 'Lady Madcap' has visited before. www.freewebs.com/joflrailway they are located on the 'Homepage' & 'The Route & History'. He would most deffinatley like to bring his locos to the railway again.

Going back a couple of weeks now I updated the blog with some interesting news www.joflrailway.blogspot.com. Not sure when I shall next be down at the railway as I'm currently in the middle of exams, and the next few weeks look pretty well packed!
James

Thanks for the update, the ballast is looking really good, the line is really starting to come together again-I can't wait to see what it will look like finished.

Hello again,
I've just updated the railway's blog with details of the work carried
out yesterday. The pressure is now on to get the railway ready for a
puffer we've got visiting in August!

Hello,
Thought you may be interested to hear that we will be holding our first open day at the Joys of Life Railway on  the 17th of August, it is hoped that the railway's new Ride On Railways Hercules class loco will be available for service alongside visiting 0-4-2ST Sweet Pea 'TINKER' from Simon's Miniature Railway. This is a low profile event, if you so happen to be in the Bethesda area at the time of the event then please contact me and I can try to organise you an invite, I say try, because it is obviously up to the railway's proprietors. I am merley organising the steam loco & labour used for re-building the railway.
Get in touch!
James

Hope the day went well Smile I bet it was good to have lots of trains running on the line again after so many years!
SillyBilly
