French Midland railway coal wagon

This is a riding trolley that I built about fifteen years ago. It looks a bit like a model. It is based on a Midland railway design and one of the few British wagons to have diamond bogies. It is to standard gauge. The body is just over a metre long and 250 mm wide. The wagon stands about 220 mm high. I used 1600 rivets to assemble the body. The bogies are extremely heavily built pro rata to scale sizes. Usually there are footboards. The loops for the footboards can be seen but not used when I took these shots. This trolley was shown at Porte Versailles exhibition for two years and covered 300 km going round the demonstration track. Today it has got a bit small for my children. I attached a shot taken of the younger two children taken in 2003. It shows a glorious mixture of scales, why the track had to be elevated (look at those long fourteen year old legs and I have an older son who is even bigger!) and the Playmobil carriage being used.

It looks very realistic-just like Midland Railway design.  I guess for the raised track you could drop the footboards down lower like This Ride on Railways truck

Thanks!  I am concentrating on narrow gauge at the moment. I will post possibly tomorrow showing the next riding trolley. I have posted all the completed stock. I have a few projects on the bench.

Thanks for showing us your rolling stock-you have certinally got a good fleet.
