In the coming months i have the opertunity to buy myself a 5 inch loco, but i don't know which one, so i am looking a for opinions/quick reviews/comments or any other info on the following engines :

1. Maxitrak Alice £3495
2. Polly 3           £4458
3. Polly 4           £5002

Cost needs to be a consideration as well  Laughing

Depends, how many people do you want it to pull, and what sort of railway it is (level or graded)?

Well the Maxitrak 'Alice' is only said to pull 4 people, the Polly 3&4 are both said to pull 8. The Polly locos also have an injector which the Alice doesn't, I think you can pay them to build a Polly loco, but I'm not sure, I think building it is a nice new challenge but that is me.

PersonallyI much prefer the look of the Polly 4 to the Polly 3 as it's got that nice long tender and looks more like an old elegant British loco, and it's only another £550ish, but the only person who can decide between the 3&4 is you as it is really down to what you prefer the look of.

Just in case you are interested if I was to buy a Polly Loco it'd be the O&K.
